Big O and Other Letters

Once again I found something neat on Pinterest. This time I HAD to try it right away. We do not have anything on our front door, and I thought this would be perfect! Then it got me thinking of other letters, those of my sons. I had the idea that it would be SO adorable to put their first letter in their names in their room.

The supplies I used for the basics were:

  • Wooden Letters
  • Wood Glue
  • Exacto knife
  • Scrapbook paper ( Best to get a size that will fit the whole letter on it)
  • I would recommend a paper cutting mat to cut on, but I just used one of my kids sticker books that only cost $1. ;)

I coated one side of the letter with wood glue

Then flipped it around onto the paper

I smoothed it out using the blunt end of the glue container to get the bubbles out.  Then let it dry for a while. I let it dry over night, as I didn’t have time to get back to it. ;)

I then used the exacto knife to trace the letter out. I didn’t get a picture of it, but make sure you see the wooden side, then trace along it.  Does that makes sense?

This is what it looks like done.

To spice it up, you can add stickers, buttons, ribbon, and really the sky’s the limit on how you want to decorate them.

These are how my son’s letter’s turned out.

I was pretty happy with the way the boys letters turned out. Can’t wait to hang them in their room.

So that was my attempt at the big O and other letters. ;)  It was actually a pretty fun project.

  2. Those are so cute, Sarah! I think I’ll do those for my grandkids for Christmas! Are you having any morning sickness?

    • That’s a nice idea. :) Christmas presents! :) No, no morning sickness, well not really. I have gotten morning sickness, but there always is a reason, so when I stop eating or doing the thing that makes me sick, I don’t have morning sickness anymore. ;)

  3. Such a cute idea. I can’t wait to see them up. :O)

The letters are really neat. I love the way you decorated Jeremiah’s and Noah’s. Really cute!

  5. Very cute! It reminds me a little bit of the paper mache letters my sister decorated for her sons. She used the first initial of each of their names, printed out black and white photos of them, and modge podged them to the letter. I loved them! And not an expensive progject, either!
