Easy Breakfast Cinnamon Rolls

When I saw this “2 ingredient” bread, I thought, “NO WAY!” and “How can it be any good?”

The bread itself is delicious, but I took little detour from it being “pizza” and decided to make this bread into cinnamon rolls!

Being as simple as it was, the kids got involved. It was rather comical honestly. Noah doesn’t like to get dirty and Jeremiah used to be the same way, although he is branching out and getting dirty from time to time.  Yes I know, they ARE boys and this is strange, but that’s how they are. ;)

I thought it would be fun to work with this dough. So I gave them each their OWN dough. I mean seriously, what could be more fun than that? Helping mommy hands on!

Noah WAS going to put his hands in the bowl, but then called to me to get a spoon. *Oh well*   Jeremiah on the other hand was totally game. “When can I stick my hands in!” was more his question.

I thought maybe with a ball of dough to knead, Noah would get more into it.. Alas he just looked at me like “ok now what?” and once again called for a spoon!  Jeremiah of course was game and totally excited to make it into a flat area to work with.

We flattened it, poured butter, sprinkled cinnamon, and sprinkled coconut palm sugar on it. Then rolled it. Next we cut it into 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch thick pieces and put them in a coconut oil coated (8×8) pan. (You can use PAM or Criso if you want, I choose Coconut Oil as it’s very good for you)

I was actually surprised by the results! Turned out beautifully! I tell you, it only took 30 min probably, including the cooking.  I also think the dough would be good for pizza as well. Has a VERY good taste to it.

If you make this without children helping, I image it would be even faster.  I think from now on I’ll be making these cinnamon rolls for breakfast instead of these other ones I made awhile back.

The beauty of these is, the boys loved them AND they packed great ingredients.

Simple Cinnamon Rolls - Made in minutes!

Ingredients

    Self-Rising Flour Recipe:
  • 1 cup pastry wheat flour (you can use whatever flour you want)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Cinnamon Rolls:
  • 1 1/2 cup of the self rising flour
  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  • Cinnamon
  • Coconut Palm Sugar (or sugar of your choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven to 400
  2. Grease 8x8 pan
  3. Make up the self rising flour by mixing the flour, baking soda and salt.
  4. Add the cup of plain greek yogurt.
  5. Mix with your hands or a spoon. Add flour as needed (you can use regular flour at this point if you need more to make it less sticky)
  6. Knead the dough for few minutes
  7. Roll into a 1/2 inch thick flat dough
  8. Pour butter and smooth it out with a spoon
  9. Sprinkle cinnamon all over the dough
  10. Sprinkle sugar all over the dough
  11. Roll dough
  12. Cut into 1 to 1 1/2 inch thick pieces
  13. Place pieces in pan
  14. Cook for 13 min
  15. Add glaze if desired.

      haha Gotta love them. :)
      I was happy these cinnamon rolls worked out with good ingredients. I am on a major overhaul when it comes to foods, and changing kids to healthy ingredients and foods is hard!

    They were yummy! I am glad that Jeremiah likes them. :O) I will have to try them with Almond flour. I wonder if I can get that to “self rise” too.

      I didn’t know you had a chance to try them. :D I can’t wait to try them with a different flour that fits phase one.
