LOVE these classes!

Don’t Forget the Cider

I go to the store every week or so. Get my groceries, and splurge just about each time, getting a sparkling cider. My husband and I love these.

I hadn’t gotten one the last couple weeks, so decided this last time I was at the store to purchase one.  We were having the perfect meal for the drink too.

I wanted to rush to get it as cold as possible, because who wants warm cider? 😉

I quickly put it in the freezer first thing when I got home and made our Italian meal.

Life has a way of taking off. With two little boys, it takes off even farther!

Before we knew it, we had gone to bed.

The cider very happily was STILL in the freezer..

I went about my day the next morning, oblivious to the mess in the freezer, until I needed to cook dinner. I don’t get in the freezer much, as you can tell.

This is what I found.

There was glass all over the inside of the freezer. It was a frozen mess, which in a way was good. Not so sticky. 😉

Have you ever done this? I was surprised we hadn’t heard a loud boom!

Probably the “boom” was when you guys were sleeping. :O) I have forgotten yogurt and a soda in the freezer before. Nothing with glass. Hopefully I will remember your event so I don’t do it. lol

I don’t think it would have made a loud sound.. I think the frozen cider slowly (but surely) pushed its way out of the bottle. The poor bottle didn’t have a chance… and it probably started with tiny cracks which eventually gave way to the expanding frozen cider.

    Does that make sense?

Anyway, it happens here every now and then. Someone excited to drink soda will place an entire bottle in the freezer and forget about it, next day, there’s a bit of a mess waiting for us!

You know that makes total sense. It was sorta oozing looking. I hope this will teach me to pay attention next time, IF There IS a next time. I missed my splurge. BUT they were on sale today, so bought a COUPLE this time. haha 😉

Oh the heartbreak! When my kids were young, I discovered the power of the kitchen timer. I set it to remind me of so many things — such as drinks ‘cooling’ in the freezer. Whenever I’m busy – writing, planning, cooking – I still use it to help me remember the important little things. Of course, some days it goes off and I have no idea what I need to remember! That’s when I know it’s time to schedule another vacation! :)

That’s a good idea. I’ve used it to “remind me of things too”. Did not think about doing it with the drink. I’ll have to do that next time. And like you, a lot of times I think, “Why do I have the timer going off?” *go to turn it off* *blank look on face* “Oh well..” lol

That’s another great idea, a vacation! Sounds wonderful, I could use one of those. :)

Ugh my husband left several beers in the deep freezer one time. We had company and he sat the case in the bottom of the deep freezer. When I discovered it the next day, I said, “You have a mess to clean up in the freezer.” After his cleaning then I just went ahead and took everything out to give it a good cleaning because it still smelled like beer. I tell you what I did before. I bought groceries and a bag of ice. My groceries were in the trunk and I put the bag of ice on the floor of the passenger front seat. It was hot and I knew the trunk would melt it too fast. Well let’s just say by the time I remembered to get the ice out of the car, there wasn’t an ice cube left. Okay it was the next day. :-/

OH my! No kidding, “Honey a mess for YOU to clean” Sounds messy!

haha Don’t you just love those days? At least it was ice and not milk or ice cream! I have days like that. I realized I smelled something horrid in the car once, and couldn’t figure it out, but it was driving me nuts! The next day I discovered a poopy diaper I had in a zip-lock bag was still located in the diaper bag that I just keep in the car. Talk about gross! Mommy brain at it’s best. 😉

Complete oops! haha OH, I bet that icy one was really yummy. I wished I grabbed mine at least, at that stage. :) Thanks for stopping by!
