This year my mom and I decided to make fudge. We haven’t had this recipe in such a long time, I can’t recall the last time we had it!
With all my Pinterest searching, and seeing all the new delicious cookies, it brought to mind this recipe.
This is the easiest fudge ever! Thankfully she had the recipe in her stash of recipes, because I couldn’t find it online. It’s been changed sadly.
I’ve made the basic Chocolate version, but you CAN make a mint version. Both are delicious!
This makes for a really simple gift for any occasion. Not to mention a wonderful addition to the Christmas goodies this year.
I first mixed the coco powder and butter.
Added the powdered sugar. It will look like this, and you will wonder how it will ever turn back to brown!
Added the evaporated milk
Finished up the rest of the recipe to produce addicting results!
I had to laugh. Jeremiah enjoyed the melted down version, just like I did. He got the spoon while I had another and scraped the bowl.
Noah on the other hand, stared at us both and gagged. Seriously, this boy gagged at us eating melted fudge!! Such a strange child.
haha
(NOTE: the Mint topping at the end of the recipe is optional. I added it just in case you wanted to add that addition to it)
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup butter
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 evaporated milk
- 1 cup pecans (optional)

- Mint 'n Chocolate version: (If you want to add a mint layer on the top of the chocolate fudge)
- Follow recipe for Fast Chocolate-Pecan Fudge. Omit pecan. Spread mint topping over chilled fudge.
- Mint Topping
- In small bowl cream 3 tablespoons butter, softened, 1 Tablespoon water and 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon mint extract. Gradually add 2 cups confectioners' sugar. 2 drops green food color is optional. Beat until smooth.

My great aunt made fudge every year, but no one has picked up the tradition. Perhaps I should surprise the family with some fresh fudge! When I’m done reading blogs, of course…
Hi Sarah! So sorry to have not stopped over in a while. We moved, I traveled, we’ve been unpacking, then Christmas decorations and festivities…all on top of motherhood and writing. It’s been overwhelming to say the least.
Love that you posted this fudge recipe on National Cocoa Day. Yes, that’s right…a day of chocolate…
I love fudge and haven’t had any in forever. I think you may have inspired me to make a batch.
Hope you’re feeling well these days. When is the big due date?

It’s okay, I understand! I have been rather slow in posting lately. Life feels hectic. Wrote a post about it ,to post tomorrow morning.
I had to laugh! I didn’t realize it was National Cocoa Day. lol Perfect timing!
It is a VERY simple recipe. I’ve seen to many recipes that make me NOT want to make Fudge, but this was is a breeze to make, and seriously yummy!
I will be making some this week. Since that first batch is all gone. lol
I love those photos of the kids. :O) Noah looks like he is thinking…what are you guys doing??! He is funny about that gagging stuff. lol
I want to make more too. Just cause it was nice having two pieces each night with the boys.
Ya, Noah is weird. He liked the “harder” version, but not the melted down one. haha SAME thing, just different texture. I sure wonder WHAT he is thinking.
I love fudge, maybe just a little too much… LOL. I will try this tomorrow when my friend hows up for some kitchen fun. I have a fudge recipe too and it just so simple. Mine only has tow ingredients. Happy Holidays my friend.
