Good Morning! How is the Christmas season going for you? Our life has been interesting. I thought I would just update you on a few highlights.
If you follow me on Facebook you might know the saga about our tree.
This would be the second year we purchased a real tree. A beautiful, sweet smelling tree the boys totally enjoyed decorating and waking up to each morning.
What I love about a real tree is how easy it truly is to put it up. You can get it trimmed at the tree farm (sometimes) and bring it home, and pop in into the holder and viola done. Time to decorate!
Of course there is this thing called, “Taking CARE of the tree” with water and all that when you have a real one. Something my husband and I just forgot about completely for a little over a week. Not the best move.
AS the days rolled on, we noticed the tree looking pretty sorry. We did end up watering it, but the water went no where. Within another week the tree was all shriveled up and very easy to snap. My husband was sitting on the couch one morning and watched as a branch just slowly drooped down. Our tree was dying.
Upon asking on Facebook for help: HOT HOT HOT water was something we decided to try. The sap had hardened. Hot water might loosen it, and thus allow it to drink water again.
Sadly, it was too late. The tree already had died. I didn’t get a picture of it either. BUMMER!
Discussing it further my husband and I decided to get a new one. We bought it at Dillions our local super market (it turned out to be a little cheaper then the tree farm, although they don’t trim it or cut the bottom off for you).
So far that’s where we are. We haven’t put it up, trimmed or cut it. This weekend we will take that on again. This time with a better start!
HOT HOT HOT water to begin with!
On another note, there is Noah’s sleeping. He is getting his second molars, so we thought his waking at night was due to that. He was waking up every night, two or three times. Crying or walking into our room to sleep with us. He would pass out so fast, it got me thinking, this can’t be teething. He would be way more fussy.
It’s been rather cold here lately. One night it was 10 degrees (BURRRR!!). Between our two little boys, Noah is the cold one. He can run around the house and never break a sweat EVEN if he is bundled up! I feel for him. On the flip side, Jeremiah will sweat even if he’s in a diaper! It’s amazing how different they are.
My husband and I decided to get Noah a mattress heating pad. We realize he is young, and want to be as careful as possible. My goal was to give him enough heat to feel like a body was next to him. The night we installed it (about 3 nights ago) it was set very low. Since then he has slept through he night! Apparently he was cold all these nights.
Ahh the things of life.

I hope this tree with fair better then the last one. :O) Don’t forget about it being alive. ;O) I am so happy that Noah sleeps now. I know how he feels when he just can’t get warm. I am thankful for heating blankets and pads. :O)
That is too bad and double work (or fun which ever way you lean). I hope the mattress heating pad works as a good solution, poor baby.

That’s true.
I think it gives us a chance to make the tree more the way we like it. Kind of just threw it together last time.
So far the mattress pad is working wonderfully! So thankful for that!
