Life has finally slowed down just a touch. It’s been CRAZY the last couple weeks..
I do believe it was the day we met this little kitten..
She’s a cutie, I know. Sweet and very loving. Just about perfect, except my boys didn’t know how to handle her. Granted they never grew up with cats, so it’s to be expected.
First it was total fear. Noah wasn’t so bad. I think he was more “normal”. A healthy fear. Jeremiah on the other hand, deathly afraid. Poor kid.
We were never planning on keeping her (the kitten was a girl). Just feed her and take her in when she just showed up on our front porch meowing. She was obviously VERY hungry, short of starving. We actively tried to find her a home.
She was down in our basement for a few days and started to get very agitated and desperate for people attention, so I decided we would just DEAL with it and let the kitten out to roam.
Thoughts of possibly keeping her kept coming to mind, but Jeremiah wasn’t adapting well to her. The “fear” SEEMED to have left, but it was replaced with seriously hyper “fun”. He didn’t know WHAT to do with her.
Adam tried to teach them each day. I think Noah was catching on. Jeremiah “tried”.
Honestly the stress level was almost too much for me. Every time one of us would not be watching the kitten AND Jeremiah with it, Jeremiah was a bit rough with her. It became clear the cat needed a new home and stat! Of course we couldn’t find one.
After the second night of Jeremiah waking up having peed in his bed(which he ONLY does if he is in fight or flight brought on by fears, stress etc). The only thing I could think of WAS the kitten was stressing him out. We decided to take her to a shelter.
We drove up to the shelter and Jeremiah walked in with me. The people there said the kitten would probably find a home fast, it was just too cute and sweet. The nice man told Jeremiah they would find a nice home for her, and he said his goodbyes (it was brief, though, he was more interested in all the other noises he kept hearing) and then we were off. The moment we got into the car he seemed to breath a sigh of relief.
When we got home and today, NO mention of playing with the kitten, nothing. As though she never was here. I am amazed!
He woke up completely dry too. I do believe the kitten was stressing him out. He just did not realize it. I am happy he is now returning to normal.. As normal as Jeremiah is.
